A different approach

It’s a little retro here. Taking things slower. A bit less…interactive. I realized I had been on social media almost my entire adult life. It all started with Friendster in college. Unlike most things, however, with social media the more experience you have isn’t for the better. I remember meeting the “Face Hunter” in Paris in 2006, spending that summer going to clubs with Yvan, we became friends. I was working hard getting experience to become a curator and when I asked him about his goals, he told me he was starting a blog. I admit I scoffed, but for a time he became world famous taking street style fashion photos and was sent to almost every city to snap pics of the locals. If you wanted to check out what he posted, you went onto his site. A pre-instagram proto-influencer. That was never my goal, of course, but I am happy to regain some control over my time and attention by taking a break from such arenas. This feels a little more honest to me, rather than promoting work on social while performing an idea of personhood by throwing in personal pics and opinion to make it track. Here, perhaps I can share the projects I’ve worked on, the things I’ve written, and the artists I care about in a more straightforward way. I am also happy if no one ever reads this, and fine if they do.

I will share some info here sometimes. More to come.
